Cheryl Cole is now back on her feet after suffering from malaria. As she jets to the US, she shares some of her travel tips and ideas

SOME people make travel look so easy and Cheryl Cole is one of them. She still manages to look glamorous even after a long-haul flight. Travelling first class and residing in the world's top hotels undoubtedly help but with her work commitments in both Europe and the US she's constantly on the move and all that travel can take its toll.

In a new book, simply called Being Cheryl, the singer and television personality has imparted her travel tips, ranging from how to beat jet lag to best-loved hotels and destinations.

Cheryl adores travelling and exploring exciting new places but still insists home city Newcastle upon Tyne is one of her favourites in the world.

Now that she has recovered from her recent bout of malaria after being struck down following a trip to East Africa, Cheryl has just jetted off to LA with her friend, dancer Derek Hough.

THE LOOK
How many times have you disembarked a long-haul flight feeling dishevelled with creased clothes, messy hair and suffering from sleep deprivation?

A handy tip is to pack a change of clothes in your hand luggage so at least you will look good, regardless of how you feel. This can also help if your luggage goes missing.

Cheryl always looks fabulous, whether she's flown in from LA or the South of France, and favours skinny jeans, heels, a funky vest or T-shirt and jacket.

Let's not forget the essential oversized sunglasses and suitcase-style handbag.

As for jet lag, she's become somewhat of an expert in battling it and appears to have succeeded, saying: "You have to plan in your head when you're going to sleep on the plane and what time you'll get up. If you're not strict, you'll feel like death for a week."

AT THE DESTINATION
Not only are holidays about broadening the mind, learning about new cultures and discovering new places, there's that all-important element of relaxation which also extends to your holiday wardrobe - something Cheryl, 27, is passionate about. She chooses animal prints, dangling charms, jewelled swimming costumes and a trusty straw cowboy hat for all occasions.

"I've got loads of bits that I bring out for holiday, " she says. "I do love a kaftan for when it gets a bit chilly and I love maxi dresses. They're brilliant if you've overdone it by the beach with the chips as they hide a multitude of sins.
I always have a couple of those bad boys in the wardrobe."

FAVOURITE LA HOTELS
Nowadays, Cheryl spends a lot of time in the States and in particular LA. Hollywood is synonymous with glamour and the hotels are no exception.

The London West Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard is the current favourite. Cheryl stayed here while she recorded her debut solo album last summer.

The decor is particularly retro and there is a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. The Beckhams and actress Scarlett Johansson are also regulars here.

The London West Hollywood (dialling from the UK: 001 866 282 4560/www.thelondonwesthollywood.com) offers doubles from £224 per night (two sharing), room only.
