MARCIA MOODY enjoys a luxurious week with the A-list in Los Cabos, Mexico...

Hollywood A-listers love the holiday hotspot of Los Cabos, just a hop, skip and two-hour plane ride from Los Angeles. You’ll find Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox topping up their tans in this upmarket Mexican resort, while Christina Aguilera held her hen party here. Los Cabos lies at the tip of Baja California, a slither of land which sits alongside the mainland of Mexico, with the Pacific Ocean on the west and Sea Of Cortez to the east. Los Cabos is the collective name for its two towns, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. The former is a vibrant tourist town with a yacht-filled marina lined with shops and trendy bars, while the latter is a historic fishing village based around a quaint market square.

WHERE CAN I STAY?
At the perfectly named Las Ventanas al Paraiso (the windows of paradise), the air practically shimmers with luxury like a heat haze. From the moment OK! rocked up at the luxurious low-rise resort, we were cocooned in cotton wool by the attentive staff as we drifted effortlessly between a mouth-watering meal, the pool, the spa and the beach.

We were told to keep our personal butler (all the 71 suites have one) busy, but it was tricky as it seemed every whim and desire was already pre-empted! Our suite was vast, with an exquisite mosaic inlaid headboard, wood-burning fire and Mexican artefacts, with wrap-around views of the jewel-bright Sea Of Cortez. We were giddy with excitement about the hot tub on our lounge balcony and the spiral staircase up to our sun deck. There’s even a telescope set up for star-gazing and spotting whales and dolphins. Also awaiting us in our room was an ice bucket of chilled beers, freshly baked tortilla chips and home-made guacamole – the first of many edible treats.

WHAT CAN I DO BY DAY?
Make the most of the beautiful surroundings with a stroll through a riot of vivid bougainvillea, prickly explosions of cacti and inviting hammocks to one of the sparkling infinity pools. Pool butlers can fetch you a pre-loaded iPod, clean your sunglasses, give your face an Evian spritz and offer you a salt-rimmed lemonade, frozen grapes and mini lemon popsicles. And when it’s time for lunch, simply swim up to the pool bar for fajitas and frozen margaritas.

We also enjoyed a tequila tasting session at the Tequila & Ceviche Bar. We started with the cheapest and least complex Blanco and worked our way up to Herradura. Take it from us, winding down at the end of the day with a £40 shot of smooth vanilla tequila is very pleasurable!

In the hotel’s shady herb garden, OK! signed up for a cooking lesson. We sat sipping champagne and nibbling on tortilla chips while being taught to make ceviche and tuna steak gremolata, which we then ate for lunch.

WHAT'S OUTSIDE THE RESORT?
Take a trip up the coast on the hotel’s 52ft yacht, the Paradisus, to spot sea lions and admire the famous Los Arcos rock arch at Land’s End, stopping off to snorkel before enjoying lunch on board.

Signing up with the same instructor that took out Britney Spears and Cindy Crawford, OK! soaked up the scenery on a wonderful horse-riding trek along the beach.

Or hire a Porsche Boxster from the resort and pay a visit to  Cabo San Lucas for its vibrant nightlife and shopping malls, including Puerto Paraiso for designer labels. The marina is a good jumping off point for boat excursions, as well as a host of lively bars such as El Squid Roe, Nikki Beach, Señor Frogs and Cabo Wabo, where Christina Aguilera had her hen night.

San Jose Del Cabo is a more sedate, authentic Mexican town, where you can have a potter around the colonial buildings, stop off at a shady café, browse the enticing boutiques selling jewellery, art and home furnishings and just chill out.

WHERE CAN I SPA?
Star fans of the award-winning spa at Las Ventanas, set in secluded gardens, include Jennifer Lopez – who says it’s her favourite indulgence – and Ashley Olsen, who reveals it’s also her top spot for pampering. OK! tried out the blissful three-hour Baja desert experience, where we were exfoliated, cleansed and painted with hot oil before enjoying an outdoor dip in a hot tub and a full body massage. We also loved the gem stone facial where your back is massaged with hot stones, before you enjoy a full facial. We left feeling as though we’d been given a new body because it was so cleansed and baby-soft!

WHERE CAN I EAT?
OK! enjoyed the relaxed vibe and salty breezes at the resort’s Sea Grill, where we created miniature tacos with tasty morsels of shredded beef, chicken, fried prickly pear cactus, courgette, peppers, cheese and guacamole. We then tried damiana, a nut-based local digestif, and Ajavero – a tequila liqueur – while being serenaded by local guitarists. We also enjoyed a profusion of flavours during a five-course gourmet feast at La Cava, the wine cellar restaurant. Inside it’s dark and beautiful, lit with candles and laid with plates decorated with silver moons and stars. We feasted on sautéed scallops with chocolate, roasted suckling pig, and the extravaganza dessert – a dozen mini portions of dessert, including melon with sweet guacamole and a mouthwatering cheesecake. Come nightfall, the resort glows with trees strung with orange fairy lights and flickering hurricane lanterns. If this isn’t romantic enough for you, then the resident director of romance can plan intimate meals or special moments. Follow in OK!’s footsteps with a special candlelit dinner on the beach, dining on grilled seabass and a trio of chocolate mousses before watching a film under the stars on a alfresco screen.

WHICH STARS WILL I SEE?
George Clooney and Cindy Crawford have neighbouring homes in Los Cabos and Matt Damon has a place nearby. Jennifer Aniston spent her birthday here earlier this year with Gerard Butler, Courteney Cox and Sheryl Crow, while Russell Brand and Katy Perry holidayed here in April. Britney Spears and Eva Longoria also love it. Las Ventanas is a celeb magnet, with Simon Cowell a frequent visitor. He revealed: ‘It’s a very cool hotel. It has great service. I just love it.’ Other fans include Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Will Smith, Halle Berry and Robbie Williams.

HOW DO I GET THERE?
American Airlines (ww.aa.com; 0844 499 7300) fly up to three times a day from London Heathrow to Dallas/Fort Worth to connect with  flight options to Los Cabos. Return prices start from £820pp, including all taxes and surcharges.
