Egypt is a nation that is kind of drummed into us at school. I didn't exactly head to the Red sea (Sharm El Sheik specifically) to escape the Valley of the Kings and the Pyramids of Giza, but I was hoping to see the modern Egypt that we're told a whole lot less about (until recently of course.

Here's hoping the Egyptian economy gets back on its feet now Mubarak has gone!) I booked this holiday with Tropical Sky, a tour operator I hadn't heard of at the time, but one who have gone on holiday with many times before and since.

Their 'tailor made holiday' promise is followed through on with a rep who tries to find you the best deal possible for your party. Good stuff on that count! Going with my friend Jenny and her parents we stayed at the Savoy for a week.

The sun was as you'd expect it, almost too warm. Plenty of time in the sea, in the pool and on the beach was had. Jenny and her family are really into diving, and it was a real shame to miss out on that (got a bit of snorkling done though. The water is incredibly clear!) The folks at the Savoy are INCREDIBLY accommodating and though the entertainment at the hotel wasn't amazing, the staff most certainly were. I'll definitely be going again some day!
