MUSICAL SPECTACULAR

A line-up of some of the music industry's biggest stars including Liza Minnelli, Frankie Valli and Van Morrison will take to the stage at the Hampton Court Palace Festival (0208 241 9818/ www.hamptoncourtpalacefestival.com) this summer.

The historic court and gardens of the Tudor palace provide the backdrop for an open-air extravaganza of concerts taking place from June 14 to 24.

Opening night will see Broadway and screen legend Minnelli get the party started with a showstopping performance.

This year also sees the festival celebrate its 20th anniversary and to mark the milestone the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will give a gala performance on June 16. A firework display will provide a fitting end to the evening.
